RAPID PROTOTYPING 3D PRINT

With the purchase of new 3D scan and print facilities as well as high resolution modelling, Devanet can offer customers the opportunity to see a model before it is machined or cast. In addition FDM Print capability of 205 x 205 x 205 and with dual extrusion to demonstrate two colours. This enables the company to produce rapid prototypes in under a week cutting time and costs for customers.

CAD /CAM MODELLING AND MILLING

Due to the inflexibility of many suppliers of buckles to make small run custom designs for customers, the decision was taken to invest in our own machinery to make the buckles. Already with competent design capability,y new state of the art software was purchased to enable the company to be able to control the design input and technical methodologies in creating a bespoke buckle whether it is one designer buckle or hundreds of buckles.

Research led us to a machine that was flexible to cope with prototyping as well as production to close tolerances and to be able to deliver finishes that would enable the company to produce a top quality buckle.

Finishes to the buckles

In addition to machining it was crucial to be able to offer customers, finishes of a high standard, we refer to as jewellery standard. Many imported buckles are flash coated to save money but the thin layer wears off, and cannot be polished without losing the coating. Devanét® work from a minimum of 0.2 microns up to 5 microns in everything from gold, silver, nickel, gunmetal and other nuances required by customers.

Precision Colour filling

The latest addition to the production portfolio is precision colour filling to small intricate detail, this enables the company to offer customers a comprehensive addition to branding and in addition the infill of precious stones and Swarovski crystals which are vacuum controlled for precise application.

Branding

Companies who supply staff with uniforms want to create a prestige image from top to toe, one of the most important accessories is the belt. Devanét® can design the belt buckle branded with the company's logo in the pantone colour to ensure consistency in the approach to having a corporate identity. Not just content with just applying a logo, we take great care to supply a belt buckle that meets the customers specific requirements whether it is standard or bespoke.

The Materials

Buckles can be made in solid brass, Zamak or precious metals, note that precious metals such as solid silver are complex and expensive to produce, however they can be hallmarked but all are specially created for each customer with specific requirements of the purchase of raw material.

We offer a range of coatings that enhance the longevity of the product, the standard being 0.1 micron which generally lasts 5 years, 0.2 micron average 10 years and 0.5 micron recommended for shoes or where high resistance to rubbing is required.

Brass buckles can be milled and cast, the lowest bespoke designer buckle being 1, but for corporate projects 25 buckles is the minimum, from 50 and above we offer the customer the choice of milled or cast in either brass or zamak.

Costs

The most important element to the customer is the cost of undertaking a design of their own buckle, the cost of each design varies according to the complexity of the buckle but ranges from £50 to £150 and that includes the production of a prototype. Where there are are a range of buckles involved, special consideration will be given to the design and prototyping costs.

Lead times

Devanet will supply standard stock buckles within 24 hours of confirmed order, standard designs but not stocked are generally produced on a 3-4 week cycle, but this can be changed according to the urgency and volume required.

Bespoke traditional buckles are designed within 1 week, with a prototype being made in approximately 7 working days of approval and a 3-4 week production time on approval of the prototype. Some one off buckles may take longer due to demand.
